Gather · group sharpening
Be the friend who
fixed everyone's knives.
Invite the people you cook with — family, the couple you always host, the neighbor who keeps borrowing your chef's knife. I set up at one house and do everyone's knives in a single visit. You pick the day, everyone saves, and they'll thank you at the next dinner.
Mention GATHER when you book, or just text me the names.
How a gather works
One kitchen. One afternoon.
Everybody's knives.
You pick a day
Text me a date that works. Weekends and weekday evenings are usually easiest for a group.
You invite your people
Send me the names, or just tell them to show up with their knives. No sign-up sheet, nobody coordinating with me directly.
I set up at your place
I work outside at my truck. Guests hand me their knives as they arrive and get them back before they leave.
Everybody pays their own
Each household pays for their own knives at their own discount. Nobody's stuck covering the room.
Who to invite
The people who'd never
book this on their own.
The one who always hosts
They cook for everyone and their knives take the most abuse. They've been meaning to do something about it for two years.
The parent with the good set
Someone gave them a real knife block for a wedding. It hasn't been touched since.
The neighbor who borrows yours
You know the one. This is the polite way to solve it.
Three or four households is the sweet spot. More than that and we'll talk about splitting it across two visits so nobody's waiting around.
Host questions
What hosts ask before
they send the invite.
What does it cost?
The same per-knife pricing as any visit, minus your discount. Paring and steak knives are $8 each, chef and santoku-style knives $12, kitchen shears $10. As host you take 20% off your own knives, and every guest household takes 10% off theirs.
Is there a minimum?
Six knives per visit, counted across everybody — not per household. With two or three households you'll clear it without trying.
Do my guests have to stay the whole time?
No. Most people drop their knives with me and come back. I'll text the host when the last set is done.
Do I need to clear space in my kitchen?
No. I work outside at my truck. All I need is somewhere to park and a spot to set the knives down as they come in.
What if someone brings something unusual?
Bring it. Japanese, Western, serrated, pocket knives, shears, custom — I sharpen all of it. If something's badly damaged I'll tell you before I touch it and quote the repair on the spot.
How long does a gather take?
Depends on the count. A typical household block runs about 45 minutes; three households usually lands between one and two hours. I'll give you a real estimate once I know roughly how many knives are coming.
Pick a Saturday.
Text me the names.
That's the whole thing. I'll handle the rest, and you'll be the reason four kitchens cook better this month.
